- Poor Leadership
If whoever is in charge is lousy at communicating their ideas and instructions, but expects you to be a mind-reader… you’re in a toxic environment. - Poor Management Skills
Are they bullying you to try to get what they want, pushing you to do things you’re not responsible for, are they just an all ’round ass… you’re in a toxic environment.
A Distorted Philosophy
- Doesn’t follow their own philosophy/creed
A green space that wastes paper, a collaborative space where everyone keeps to themselves and yet they feel they’re keeping in line with their philosophy/creed.
Personnel Issues
- High School Shenanigans
Are there cliquey and gossip-prone colleagues? This is a classic sign of a toxic environment. Are conflicts, misunderstanding and a lack of support among the coworkers?
The reality is that, if the people you work with are not efficient, they may transfer their inefficiency to you.
Bureaucracy Hell
- Do you have to get every little thing you do approved? Do you need approval to print from the coworking printer? Do you have to get approval to bring in a client? If so, this may not be the place for you.
